Summary

"Chasing the Sun" by R.M. Ballantyne is an adventurous tale set in the mid-1800s. It follows Fred Temple, a hard-working senior manager from Liverpool, who yearns for a break and plans a sailing trip to Norway with his companions. The book kicks off by painting a picture of Fred’s personality and setting the stage for his journey. Readers are introduced to Bob Bowie, a retired sailor and other members of Fred’s loyal crew, as they prepare to depart for Norway. Fred's romantic nature and thirst for adventure are clear, and the narrative swiftly switches from life in busy Liverpool to the thrill of sailing. A fierce storm tests the crew early on and hints at the exciting times and friendly faces that await them as they explore the lovely coasts of Norway and the Arctic.
