Summary

"The Adventurous Seven: Their Hazardous Undertaking" by Bessie Marchant is a story of a group of brothers and sisters called Plumstead who are bound by big hopes and bravery as they wish to see their dad again in Australia. After a lecture lights a fire in their hearts they decide to travel far away making their way past any hard times with the hopes of bringing their family back together after seven long years apart. The story opens with the excitement of the Plumstead family making plans to travel far as it shows Nealie, the oldest girl, wanting to help her father; a doctor in far off lands. After making a pact with each other, they ask Mr. Runciman to pay for this huge trip. Their unshakable bond pushes them forward showing that if they work together the unknown becomes known.

About the Author

Bessie Marchant (1862–1941) was a prolific English writer of adventure novels featuring young female heroines. She published most of her work under the name Bessie Marchant, but occasionally published as Bessie Marchant Comfort or Mrs J.A. Comfort. And a few books for boys, published under the name John Comfort are attributed to her.
