Summary

"The Worn Doorstep" by Margaret Pollock Sherwood is a story about a woman during World War I as she looks for a place to call home while facing the fear of war. The main character starts out looking for a peaceful cottage to bring joy and calm into her life, a direct opposite of the war happening around her. She ends up finding a charming old cottage where she plans to build her life and remember her family. As she dreams of a brighter future, reminders of the war and sadness over her loved one fighting constantly remind her of the world’s chaos and force her to see home and community in a new light.
