Summary

"History of the War in Afghanistan, Vol. 2 (of 3)" by John William Kaye is a historical analysis of the British involvement in Afghanistan during the 19th century. It tells about the British invasion and control of Afghanistan, along with the placement of Shah Soojah on the throne, and also focuses on Afghanistan’s internal conflicts. The book investigates the political problems brought about by foreign intervention, including the Shah's struggle to maintain power with British military support as unrest grows, and the imperial motivations of the British. The book presents the initial optimism, followed by a slow understanding of how Britain remaining would lead to further military actions and complicate the already unstable region, setting the stage for future problems as Britain would face external threats.
