Summary

"Storm Over Warlock" by Andre Norton is a science fiction story that begins with a sudden and overwhelming attack by the alien Throgs on a Terran Survey camp, leaving Shann Lantee as the only survivor. Amidst the wreckage and devastation, Shann, previously a lower-level member of the Survey team, is thrust into a perilous journey across the wild and unknown landscape of the planet Warlock. Driven by the need to escape the Throgs and find refuge, Shann sets out to locate wolverines, which are mutated animals bred for exploration that he had cared for at the camp. Shann's desperate flight from the invaders leads him through treacherous terrain, triggering memories of his difficult past and forcing him to confront the realities of his marginalized life. As he faces this new world, Shann transforms from an ordinary crew member into a capable survivor, struggling against the alien threat.
