Summary

"Baby Mine" by Margaret Mayo is a tale of two college pals, Alfred Hardy and Jimmy Jinks, who see love and marriage very differently. Alfred’s a dreamer, picturing a perfect home with a perfect wife, while Jimmy’s more down-to-earth, questioning if Alfred’s dream is even possible. The story kicks off with Alfred sharing his big plans, and Jimmy playfully poking holes in them, especially when they think about the girls they know. This sets the stage for a funny back-and-forth between the two, but things get interesting when Alfred introduces the quirky Zoie into the mix, promising some romantic twists and turns that will put their friendship and beliefs to the test.
