Summary

"Imogen; Or, Only Eighteen" by Mrs. Molesworth is a story set in the late 1800s about a youthful girl named Imogen who, along with her mother, ventures to Grey Fells Hall, the country home of the Helmont family, where she deals with the complexities of family relationships and personal development. The story follows Imogen's attempts to fit in and make friends amidst initial social awkwardness and misunderstandings: her upbeat attitude clashes with the snobbish behavior of some of the Helmont family members, especially Trixie, while Florence is more welcoming. As Imogen tries to adjust to her new home, the contrast between the Helmont sisters and their distinctly different personalities sets the stage for the difficulties and experiences she encounters.
