Summary

"The Wouldbegoods: Being the Further Adventures of the Treasure Seekers" by E. Nesbit, is a charming children's story set in the late 1800s. It tells the story of the Bastable children—Oswald, Dora, Dicky, Alice, Noel, and H. O.—and their many attempts to be good, while delivering lots of fun and adventures. As the story starts, the siblings are getting used to living in the Red House in Blackheath, where their family is much more stable. Readers learn about their family connections, experiences at school, and memories of looking for treasure. When cousins Denny and Daisy come to visit, the children try to host them but soon decide to make a "jungle" in their backyard, which causes chaos and humor when their games bother the grown-ups. The beginning of the story lets readers know there are more exciting adventures to come, making it a fun read for anyone who enjoys kids' books.
