Summary

"Orphan Dinah" by Eden Phillpotts is a book set in the early 1900s, telling the story of Dinah Waycott, an orphan grappling with her feelings for her foster family versus what's expected of her by the man she's promised to marry, John Bamsey. The story unfolds in the Dartmoor countryside, showing Dinah meeting Lawrence Maynard, all while exploring what it means to love, belong, and find yourself. We see Joseph Stockman and his daughter, Susan, welcome new workers Lawrence Maynard and Thomas Palk to Falcon Farm. The novel captures landscapes and relationships involving duty and attraction that show Dinah's honest and open nature. These elements combine to shape the personal challenges that define Dinah's journey.
