Summary

"The Young Visiters or, Mr. Salteena's Plan" by Daisy Ashford is a funny story set in the olden days about people trying to be fancy. It's mostly about Mr. Salteena, a not-so-young man, who wants to climb the social ladder and also impress a young lady named Ethel. He asks her over to stay with him, and things get complicated as he tries to act like a proper gentleman with help from an Earl, while Ethel has admirers of her own. The way the story is told makes it light and comical, and in the end Ethel gets engaged, and everyone finds their way, showing a kid-like view of how adults act.
