Summary

"Tudor School-Boy Life: The Dialogues of Juan Luis Vives" by Juan Luis Vives, is a compilation of instructive talks that give us a peek into what it was like to be a schoolboy in England during the Tudor period. Through made-up chats between students like Emanuel and Eusebius, the book looks closely at things like what they did every day, their families, and how they were taught to be good people. The book starts off with kids joking around in the morning as they get ready for school, showing us how important friendship, learning, and doing things in order were back then. As you read on, you'll learn about old customs, funny conversations, and serious thoughts about growing up, all while still focused on teaching and building character.

About the Author

Juan Luis Vives y March was a Spanish (Valencian) scholar and Renaissance humanist who spent most of his adult life in the southern Habsburg Netherlands. His beliefs on the soul, insight into early medical practice, and perspective on emotions, memory and learning earned him the title of the "father" of modern psychology. Vives was the first to shed light on some key ideas that established how psychology is perceived today.
