Summary

"The Wyndham Girls" by Marion Ames Taggart is a compelling story set in the early 1900s. The book tells us about the Wyndham sisters, Jessamy and Barbara, and their cousin Phyllis, and how they deal with growing up, friendships, and major life changes after their family's money disappears without warning. These young women struggle to keep their heads up as they learn to be strong and find out what they can really do. The story kicks off with the girls excited about parties and dances. However, their happiness gets destroyed when a lawyer, Mr. Hurd, shows up with bad news: the family is broke because the Wyndham Iron Company failed. This changes everything for them as they are no longer privileged. The book then follows them as they attempt to adjust to the harsh realities of their new situation. The difference between their old, easy life and the tough times they now face is what makes the story so moving, showing how they learn to bounce back and discover who they really are.
