Summary

"Sight Gag" by Laurence M. Janifer is a science fiction story that looks at ideas about smarts mixed with being able to stay alive, all set in a world full of psychic abilities and fights between people. The story is about a Psi Operative who can move things with his mind as he chases after someone named Fredericks, who wants to hurt him because the Operative sent his brother to jail. What makes things tricky is that Fredericks has special shields that stop the Operative from using his mind powers. The story gets exciting when the Operative figures out how to control the bullets Fredericks shoots at him, showing that being smart is better than just being strong. At the end, the Operative wins, adding to his reputation and making you think about what it really means to be powerful when everyone is hiding something.
