Three friends, Billie, Laura, and Vi, wander into the woods for a science project, but end up lost just as a storm rolls in. While trying to find their way to safety, the shadows and whispers of a local thief named "The Codfish" spook them. This fear brings them to a strange hut inhabited by a sad and mysterious man named Hugo Billings, and sets the stage for a summer adventure on Lighthouse Island that involves them solving a crime.
