Summary

"Love Eternal" by H. Rider Haggard is a story from long ago that looks at love, who we are, and what society expects of us, through the lives of Godfrey Knight and Isobel Blake. These two people have a deep connection, even though they come from different backgrounds. Godfrey, whose dad is a strict clergyman, has a hard time with his father's rules. Isobel, raised by the harsh Mr. Blake, starts to go against what's expected of her. When they are young, Godfrey and Isobel share a pure connection, but as they mature, difficulties arise, brought by their families and the world around them, testing their relationship.

About the Author

Sir Henry Rider Haggard was an English writer of adventure fiction romances set in exotic locations, predominantly Africa, and a pioneer of the lost world literary genre. He was also involved in land reform throughout the British Empire. His stories, situated at the lighter end of Victorian literature and including the eighteen Allan Quatermain stories beginning with King Solomon's Mines, continue to be popular and influential.
