Summary

** "Where the Sun Swings North" by Barrett Willoughby is a story set in early 1900s Alaska, where a white trader known as the White Chief lives among and trades with the native Thlinget people. The story starts with the White Chief in his trading post as preparations for an important native festival, called a Potlatch, occur around him. How he acts with the Thlinget people, and especially the native women, causes problems and highlights the clash between his world and theirs. The story hints at rising tensions tied to the influence of outsiders and different cultures living side by side. **
