Summary

"The Sixth Sense: A Novel" by Stephen McKenna is a tale of rediscovery set in a transforming London around 1915. The narrative revolves around Toby Merivale's return after two decades away, thrusting him into a world reshaped by social and political currents. He witnesses London's evolution, focusing on the rise of the suffrage movement. As he re-establishes connections with figures like Arthur Roden and Joyce Davenant, immersed in political activism, Toby grapples with his personal role amidst these shifts. Intricately woven into the plot are explorations of belonging, the push and pull of individual longings versus communal responsibility, and the underlying search for individual identity within a changing world.
