Summary

"Prisons & Prisoners: Some Personal Experiences" by Constance Lytton recounts one woman's transformation from a conventional life to a passionate fight for women's rights in the early 1900s. After receiving an inheritance, the author turns her attention towards social reform. The memoir chronicles her evolution into a militant Suffragette and her subsequent imprisonments because of those actions. It emphasizes her first-hand encounters with the harsh realities of the penal system, especially for those advocating for women's suffrage. Her experiences shed light on the inequalities and mistreatment suffered by women during this pivotal time in history, contrasting with the author's life outside of prison life.
