Summary

"Trivia" by Logan Pearsall Smith is a compilation of early 20th-century essays that sees the author thoughtfully considering daily existence. Smith blends insights on nature, society, and what it means to be human alongside a feeling of longing for the past. Using a style common in writing from the early 1900s, Smith looks closely at life's finer points as he thinks deeply about it. In this book, Smith thinks about things like happiness, what society expects from us, how time changes things, and what it means to be alive via a number of short stories and essays. He uses smart and often funny language to look at his own life, the loveliness of nature, and the odd ways people act, always thinking about the deeper meaning. Each chapter encourages readers to consider their own lives and the world surrounding them, focusing on the small things that, after more thought, turn out to be very important to us.
