Action Front

"Action Front" by Boyd Cable is a wartime depiction that shares an interconnected collection of stories of soldiers during World War I, combining somber situations alongside brief respites of levity. The book opens by presenting Private Jock Macalister, a Scottish soldier. Following a failed attack, Macalister faces a perilous and uncertain experience when he is captured by German soldiers, where he must rely on what makes him unique to get through. Macalister is able to use his intellect to outmaneuver his captors, eventually escaping and showing his defiant spirit, which is all captured around the chaos of World War I.
