Summary

"Anne Hereford: A Novel" by Mrs. Henry Wood is a story about a girl named Anne Hereford, who becomes an orphan after her mother passes away and goes to live with her Aunt Selina's family. Set in what seems to be the late 1800s, the story kicks off with Anne traveling alone on a train, showing how sad and lonely she is in her black mourning clothes. When she arrives at her aunt's house, she finds herself right in the middle of tense family issues, especially involving a man named Mr. Edwin Barley, who seems to stir up trouble. The story suggests that Anne's life will get mixed up with the grown-ups' problems, hinting at jealousy, conflict, and intense drama ahead.
