Taquisara

"Taquisara" by F. Marion Crawford is a story set in the late 1800s, concerning Donna Veronica Serra, a rich young woman whose family wants her to marry Bosio Macomer because of her money. At the beginning, Veronica is signing her will because her aunt, Countess Macomer, is pushing her. This shows that Veronica doesn't have simple feelings for her guardians who seem more concerned with her wealth than her well being. Other important people surround her, like her uncle Gregorio and the quiet but nice Bosio, plus her friend Gianluca della Spina, who loves her but she doesn't love him back. The Macomer family is close to losing all their money, making everyone tense and setting up problems and choices that will happen later in the story.
