Summary

"The Gorgeous Girl" by Nalbro Bartley is a story about a young woman named Truletta "Trudy" Burrows who is trying to find her place in the world while dealing with love and wanting to be successful. It takes place in a time when society was changing, and Trudy wants to have a good life but is also falling for Steve O'Valley, who is seeing Beatrice Constantine who has money and status. At the start, Trudy is a secretary at the O'Valley Leather Company, dreaming of a life with money and adventure, unlike her friend Mary Faithful who is content with a simpler lifestyle. Trudy looks down on the wealthy, like Beatrice, but she wants what they have, leading her on a journey to find love and success in a world that is not always fair.
