Summary

"Tubemonkey" by Jerome Bixby is the tale of Rhiannon, a damaged pilot regressed to a childlike state by radiation, who finds himself entangled in a galactic conflict. Once a brilliant pilot, Rhiannon, now nicknamed "Tubemonkey," becomes a central figure in a secret war between rebels and a deceitful council, even while his mind struggles to recall his former self. Karrin, a manipulative character, exploits Rhiannon's condition, using him as a tool in a dangerous game of deception and strategy that leads to betrayals and a critical stealth mission. Amidst flashes of his former genius, Rhiannon's journey is a mix of humor and sadness as he grapples with his role, as the story twists and turns towards the fate of everyone involved.
