Summary

"The Space Visitors" by Edmond Hamilton is an early science fiction story where Earth faces a strange and destructive threat from above. Dr. Jason Howard, a scientist, and his assistant Stanley Ransome figure out that giant "scoops" falling from space are causing massive damage. At first, everyone thinks it's just weird weather, but Dr. Howard believes these scoops are from alien ships exploring Earth like we explore the ocean's depths. As more disasters happen, fear spreads, and the world comes together to build air-mines to fight back. The story is about how humans can be strong and clever when faced with the unknown dangers of space, culminating in a victory where the air-mines defeat the mysterious ships.
