Summary

"Waverley; Or, 'Tis Sixty Years Since — Volume 1" by Sir Walter Scott is a historical fiction novel that throws us back to a Scotland on the brink of rebellion. We meet Edward Waverley, a young man from England, who goes on an exciting and risky journey right into the heart of the Jacobite uprising. Edward's story kicks off with him thinking back on his life sixty years prior and it's full of family drama and political tension. Raised on romantic tales and divided loyalties, he finds himself caught between the clashing worlds of the Scottish Highlanders and the British government. Watch as Edward wrestles with his own values and the chaotic events unfolding around him, all set against the backdrop of a Scotland struggling with its identity.
