Fran

"Fran" by J. Breckenridge Ellis is a story where we first meet Fran, a determined young girl who appears seeking Hamilton Gregory, a choir leader, believing he holds the key to her past and her sense of belonging. Fran shows up at Mr. Gregory’s home, undeterred in her quest to find him after a mysterious laugh during a religious gathering sparked her interest, and even facing the skepticism of the secretary, the spirited Fran is directed to a camp meeting where Gregory is. Fran's observations and actions hint at a complex history and a deep desire for familial connections, promising a tale of identity, homelessness, and the search for a place to call home.
