"Beach Scene" by Marshall King is a science fiction story where a young boy named Purnie has the incredible power to stop time. There, he uses his power to freeze time and explore, discovering strange creatures like three-legged tripons and flocks of spora. But his joy is interrupted by two-legged invaders searching for a radioactive creature, which leads to an accident. Purnie must learn about the weight of his power and the importance of responsibility as he works to save his new friends in a moving conclusion.
