Summary

"Through the Looking-Glass" by Lewis Carroll is a mid-19th century novel that tells the story of Alice's remarkable journey into a bizarre, mirrored world filled with talking chess pieces and living flowers. Alice, starting in her own home, steps through a looking glass and into a world that defies logic, encountering strange characters like the White Queen and finding herself in absurd situations. The story follows her quest to navigate this nonsensical, chessboard-like land and become a queen, exploring themes of identity and reality through playful conversations and imaginative adventures under unusual rules.

About the Author

Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, better known by his pen name Lewis Carroll, was an English author, poet, mathematician, photographer and Anglican deacon. His most notable works are Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (1865) and its sequel Through the Looking-Glass (1871). He was noted for his facility with word play, logic, and fantasy. His poems Jabberwocky (1871) and The Hunting of the Snark (1876) are classified in the genre of literary nonsense. Some of Alice's nonsensical wonderland logic reflects his published work on mathematical logic.
