"Yolanda of Cyprus" by Cale Young Rice is a play that takes place in 1500's Cyprus and tells the story of Yolanda, whose arranged marriage to Renier Lusignan’s son, Amaury, is surrounded by political chaos. The play looks at love, dishonesty, and doing what is right, and the strong feelings that come about because of what happens. The play begins with tension in the castle as people await news from war. The play introduces us to Yolanda, and other characters like Vittia Pisani, and her soon-to-be husband, Amaury. We discover the characters' relationships with one another, with Yolanda struggling with her love for Amaury and the interesting, but dangerous, Camarin. As the play progresses, we see hints of suspicion that suggest choices that will test the characters' trust.
