"The Great Green Blight" by Robert Emmett McDowell is a science fiction story set in a future where Earth's Empire is on the brink of ruin, terrorized by phantom pirates. The story follows Norman Saint Clair, a timid lecturer on a space voyage aboard the "Jupiter", who is scared about the trip. He quickly becomes entangled in a dangerous mystery filled with murder and possible treachery, where the plant-like Dohlmites might be involved. Panic and suspicion take over the passengers, and as Norman and Jennifer try to discover the truth behind the events, they start a risky mission to uncover the secrets that put their lives in danger, and threaten the entire Empire.
