Sign of Life

"Sign of Life" by Dave Dryfoos is a science fiction story about George Main, the only person left after a mission to Venus goes wrong. It's a story about staying alive, trying to figure things out, and how living things can communicate even if they're very different. After his ship crashes on a dangerous planet with poisonous air and strong winds, George fights to keep going. He finds strange, teardrop-shaped creatures that seem interested in him and the world around them. Knowing he's about to die, George tries to connect with them, wanting them to know he was a living person, not just a thing. This makes him think hard about what it means to be alive, to be aware, and how important it is to remember things as he faces death. In the end, he hopes that these creatures will remember he was there.
