Summary

"Cobb's Bill-of-Fare" by Irvin S. (Irvin Shrewsbury) Cobb is a funny assortment of writings that look at American living in the early 1900s. It's mostly about how great and sometimes tough it is to eat in America, mixed with happy memories of favorite foods, music, art, and sports. Cobb tells funny stories and notices interesting things, showing what life was like back then, with a focus on American cuisine. The book starts with someone walking into a busy place to eat, really wanting the plain, good foods from when they were younger. He orders classic dishes, making jokes about how hard it is to find real comfort food these days. This part gets the book going, as Cobb mixes looking back at the past with making fun of things, pointing out the good and the silly parts of American culture, also touching on things such as music and art.
