Summary

"How to Tell the Birds from the Flowers, and other Wood-cuts" by Robert Williams Wood is an amusing guide to a made-up science called flornithology, designed for newcomers who are just starting to learn. Written with humor, the book teaches readers how to tell birds apart from flowers and plants. It uses funny poems and pictures to compare birds and plants, pointing out what makes them alike and different. For example, there’s the "Crow" compared to the "Crocus," and the "Pecan" next to the "Toucan," each with a funny poem that plays with how people often mix up facts about nature. In this creative way, Wood teaches about birds and plants while also showing how wonderful and weird the world around us can be, making it a fun read for all ages.
