Summary

"The Revellers" by Louis Tracy tells the story of a North Yorkshire village where old traditions and new influences clash when a farmer's son, Martin, meets Angèle, the baroness's daughter. Martin, a young boy struggling under his strict father's rules, finds his world turned upside down by the arrival of the spirited Angèle. Their friendship highlights the contrast between simple village life and Angèle's wealthy background, sparking a series of adventures as the villagers prepare for the annual Elmsdale Feast. Martin's desire to escape his father's control hints at the excitement and trouble that the festival might bring, setting the scene for a story about friendship, freedom, and the blending of different worlds.
