Summary

"Voodoo Planet" by Andre Norton is a science fiction story set in a world of strange magic and perilous adventure. Aboard the spaceship "Solar Queen," acting cargo-master Dane Thorson prepares for a trip to the swamp planet Khatka, an exotic and threatening world filled with daunting magic and mystery. Khatka’s environment is unique, its culture daunting, and its history unsettling. Upon meeting Chief Ranger Asaki and Medic Tau to discuss the planet’s history, unsettling rumors of potent dark magic spread throughout the crew, particularly whispers of Lumbrilo, a mysterious witch doctor using the forces of voodoo. As Dane and his crew grapple with bizarre creatures and supernatural forces, rationality clashes with the unexplained magic of Khatka in a struggle against the dark influence of Lumbrilo.
