The Cool War

"The Cool War" by Andrew Fetler is a sci-fi story that looks at spying and who we are during a time of political worry. The book is about Pashkov, a clever spy from the Soviet Union, and Colonel James, an American spy, who are both playing a risky game full of lies. Pashkov needs to act like Colonel James to get important information, but things get tricky when he deals with failed kidnappings, complicated bosses, and strange people like Boris Knackenpast, a writer who wants to be famous. Pashkov has to be smarter than everyone while handling the craziness of spying. The story is funny but also makes you think about the Cold War and what spies will do to reach their goals and keep up pretenses.
