Summary

"The Lady of the Barge and Others, Entire Collection" by W. W. Jacobs is a series of tales from times past, diving into the funny side of people, how folks get along, and the odd things that happen every day. The first story tells about Captain Gibbs, who runs a barge, and his pal Ted, as they deal with visitors who shake things up. In "The Lady of the Barge," Gibbs talks with another boat's crew while thinking about Ted. Then, Ted shows up with Lucy, a young woman, making Ted super happy. The captain isn't too thrilled about having passengers because his friends make fun of him, and he might even be a little jealous of the attention Lucy gives Gibbs. This all leads to funny mix-ups and maybe even some arguments as they all travel together in an unusual way.
