Summary

“The Divine Comedy” by Dante Alighieri is a long narrative poem from the 1300s, and this part, "Hell, Volume 07," tells about Dante's trip through the scary depths of hell. Guided by the poet Virgil, Dante watches different sinners get what they deserve based on their bad deeds on Earth with different punishments for the different sins. When Dante walks though Malebolge, the eighth circle of hell, he experiences the awful suffering of those who were dishonest and tricky in their lives, meeting spirits caught in an unending nightmare because of their earthly sins and betrayal. The story is full of vivid descriptions of the punishments and focuses on what is right and wrong and fairness.
