Summary

"The Slant Book" by Peter Newell is a lively children's story that follows a young boy named Bobby on an out-of-control adventure. When Bobby's go-cart runs away from him on a steep hill, it leads to all sorts of comic mishaps. All along his journey there are many silly things such as getting into trouble with a police officer, messing up a painter's equipment, and disrupting a picnic. The poem uses fun and imaginative verses to show the chaos and joy of being a child, as Bobby’s wild ride ends with a crash into a tree and a soft landing in a haystack. The book is full of happy mayhem, and readers young and old are sure to enjoy it.
