The Human Element

"The Human Element" by Leo P. Kelley is a science fiction story that explores the conflict between advanced tech and real human feeling. The story pictures a future where life feels empty. Kevin Molloy is tired of this fake world and dull entertainment, like a robot circus that has no real joy. His family wants him to fit in, but he secretly puts on a clown costume at the circus, hoping to find some happiness. He makes the audience laugh again. The circus owner, Mr. Caldwell, sees that Kevin's act is special; it brings back the "human element" that's been missing, showing how important it is to stay human as the world changes fast.
