Summary

"My Novel" — Volume 12 by Edward Bulwer Lytton is a novel centered on the Caxton family and their interactions with a web of love, honor, and deceit. The story jumps right into the thick of things with the family discussing the evolving narrative crafted by Pisistratus Caxton, with each member attempting to steer the story in their desired direction. A noticeable theme is the protection of the younger women in the family, especially Violante, who is the target of Count Peschiera's persistent advances; she must also contend with secret manipulations from Randal Leslie and other adults in her circle. Her character grapples with external pressures, and the threat of abduction hangs thick in the air. Love, deception, with the promise of forthcoming conflicts and resolutions are major themes in the story.
