Summary

"Planet Explorer" by Murray Leinster is a science fiction story where a space service officer named Bordman takes on the task of surveying the icy planet Lani III. Faced with a harsh world, his mission quickly turns into a struggle for survival when he discovers alarming weather changes that could wipe out the human colony. As a Senior Colonial Survey Officer, he deals with the isolation of his new role and strange messages about the planet's unstable conditions. Bordman works with his junior officer, Herndon, and Herndon's sister, Riki, to understand the threat and come up with a plan to ensure the survival of the colony amidst the chilling mystery of a dying planet and the relationships that form in the face of danger.

About the Author

Murray Leinster was a pen name of William Fitzgerald Jenkins, an American writer of genre fiction, particularly of science fiction. He wrote and published more than 1,500 short stories and articles, 14 movie scripts, and hundreds of radio scripts and television plays.
