Summary

** "The Incubator Baby" by Ellis Parker Butler is a humorous story that looks closely at what it means to raise a child when science and love mix. It tells the story of Marjorie Fielding, a baby born too early, who grows up in a time when new medical ideas are changing how people think about taking care of babies. Watched over very carefully, Marjorie lives inside an incubator as her parents try a modern way to raise her. Throughout her childhood, she deals with her mother’s scientific view of parenting, which sometimes makes things funny and sad. As Marjorie grows, she longs for real love and warmth, showing that caring for someone involves more than just following rules. In the end, the book shows that being loving and kind is more important than being perfectly scientific. **
