The Three Comrades

"The Three Comrades" by Kristína Royová is a story set in the Slovak mountains during the early 1900s. It follows the lives of Petrik and Ondrejko, two young orphans, and their loyal dog, Fido, as they create a strong family bond while living under the somewhat gruff, but kind, care of Bacha Filina. The story shows how the boys discover what it means to belong as they face the difficulties of being orphans, learning about life, religion, and their place in the world, all set against a backdrop of natural beauty and the realities of human life.
