Summary

"Bambi" by Marjorie Benton Cooke is a book about a young woman named Bambi who questions what society expects of her and figures out what she wants for her life. Bambi, whose real name is Francesca Parkhurst, argues with her father about what it means to be successful and whether or not she needs to get married. She's smart, independent, and stands up for Jarvis Jocelyn, a playwright, who isn't like everyone else. She chooses to marry Jarvis to help him reach his dreams. The story explores Bambi and Jarvis navigating their relationship and what people think they should be doing, touching on themes of wanting to achieve things, having big ideas, as well as trying to find out who you are.
