Summary

"Truxton King: A Story of Graustark" by George Barr McCutcheon is a story that unfolds in a make-believe land, where Truxton King, a spirited American fresh off his travels, is searching for something exciting and maybe even love. The book paints a picture of dreams, love, and royal secrets. We meet Truxton as he steps into the old-fashioned city of Edelweiss, in the kingdom of Graustark, hoping to find the romance he's been looking for. At first, life seems pretty normal there, but soon he meets a pretty girl who is related to a local armorer and he becomes interested in her. All the while, the story reveals the world of Prince Robin, who is young and likeable but is dealing with the difficulties of being royal, including family history. Truxton's journey becomes connected with the lives of the royal family as he explores the country hoping to find his place in the story.
