"The Training of Teachers in the United States of America" by Amy Blanche Bramwell is an exploration of how educators were prepared in late 19th-century America. The authors visited schools in states such as New York, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts to see how teachers were trained. They examined the way teachers were taught to teach. Their work shows how hands-on practice, co-education, and different teaching styles were used to try and improve education in the United States. The authors were sent by the Gilchrist Trustees to study secondary education for girls and women.
