Summary

"The Laughter of Peterkin: A retelling of old tales of the Celtic Wonderworld" by William Sharp is probably a set of stories for kids from a while ago, maybe the late 1800s. These stories pull from old Celtic legends, especially focusing on a boy named Peterkin, who is all about being a kid who's amazed by everything. He goes on cool adventures and is always happy. One big story mentioned is about the Children of Lir, which brings up feelings of change, love, and sadness. The book starts with Peterkin finding little magical creatures in his garden at night, which makes him super happy. He wants to find fairies and have exciting times, like in the stories Ian Mor tells him. The beginning of the book feels both fun and a bit serious, asking you to come into a world where being joyful and wanting something more can both happen together.
