A Little Rebel

"A Little Rebel" by Duchess is a story set in the late 1800s about a young woman named Perpetua Wynter and her guardian, Professor Curzon, who is not ready to be a parental figure. After the death of her father makes her an orphan, Perpetua is left in the care of the professor, who struggles to balance his scientific studies with his new role as a caretaker. It all starts when the professor receives a distressing message about the death of his friend, Mr. Wynter, which also carries the news that he must watch after the friend's daughter, a spirited seventeen-year-old. The professor quickly shifts from horror to worry as he realizes that Perpetua's current life with her aunt is suppressing her lively personality. Eventually, Perpetua appears at his home, ready to turn his structured, academic life upside down, sparking a funny story about their odd couple friendship.
